Donald has over 35 years of international experience working with healthcare organisations to recognise and realise the benefits of implementing innovative technology to tackle strategic challenges. He has helped organisations in Australia, New Zealand and the UK deliver a wide range of consultancy, strategy and technology projects; from advisory assignments to multi-million-dollar transformational system implementations.
Before becoming part of Alcidion, Donald spent six years as Managing Director of Patientrack; a company specialising in innovative solutions to support patient safety, and a world leader in high impact clinical areas such as Deteriorating Patient, Sepsis, VTE and Acute Kidney Injury.
Donald was also a founder and director of MKM Health, a health ICT consultancy, product implementer and integrator, operating in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. Prior to this, Donald was part of the international leadership team for the health IT practices of Deloitte Consulting and KPMG. In his earlier career Donald worked for the University of Aberdeen Department of Computer Science in a research capacity, and for the University’s computing consultancy company.
Donald is passionate about building businesses with the ambition and capability to deliver pioneering projects of real benefit to the health sector; working together with public and private sector organisations to collaboratively tackle challenges and create opportunities for innovation and improvement.
Donald is author of several academic, other publication and media pieces relating to patient safety, information strategy, healthcare and technology. He is also part of a multi-disciplinary team mentoring health technology start-ups as part of a public sector advisory programme.
Donald has a Masters of Arts degree.
